The paintings below are from the 2008 Calendar of Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (Singapore)

Regaining contentment in life through the drinking of tea
Without winter, spring will not appear that appealing. Without adversity, there will not be that intense a longing for good times. Man is different from other animals because he has the rationality, intelligence, desire and feeling for self-respect.
-- Ven Shi Fazhao

Cultivating confidence in true strength
Maturity means becoming a little more clear-minded life, a little deeper in thought, and a little kinder and more dignified emotionally.
-- Ven Shi Fazhao

Power up with a strong and healthy life
If we can subdue the body, mind and the three poisons ultimately drawing the mind into a state of quiescence, we shall be supreme trainers like the Buddha himself.
--Ven Shi Fazhao

Experiencing the Joy of the Augustness of Buddhist Icons
Buddhist icons are like our parents or elders, or rather, the wisest and most compassionate spiritual healers. They always gaze upon us with gentle and compassionate eyes. They are always listening to our heart cries with the greatest forbearance and patience.
-- Ven Shi Fazhao

Sincere Dedication in Repaying the Gratitude of Buddha
Look at the world with a pure heart, be joyful in leading one’s life, a common heart is welcoming and a softer heart is non complaining.
-- Ven Shi Fazhao

The pursuit of true happiness
A truly happy life is one that is not bound by desires or bedazzled by material goods and where the heart is able to settle down.

To be steadfast in faith in life
In reality, suffering and joy in this world are mutually inseparable and interdependent. Some people want only the wows and not the woes, but there can be no joy without suffering. If things have always gone well, one can hardly feel blessed.

Action – the basis of a life with vitality
If what we have to say is harmful to others, we should keep quiet; if an idea in our mind is bad for others, we should not think about it; if every step we take is destructive, we should stand still; if our action is damaging, we should stop the act. Therefore, one must think carefully before any deed.

I would like to dedicate this painting to Rev Nagase and team who clean the London Peace Pagoda at Battersea Park almost every week. Well done team, you are my inspiration for this painting. Let's do it again soon!

Note: I love rice, it is the best food on earth, and I am really grateful for the hardwork people put in to make the bowl of rice i eat everyday. Promise not to waste a single grain...
